Sustainability Report

Dear BPW Employees, Partners, and Friends

Achim Kotz

Markus Schell

The transport and logistics sector is currently facing increasing global challenges such as the Corona pandemic, the war in Ukraine, price explosions, inflation, a weakening economy and uncertain supply chains. Even and especially in these times characterised by diverse challenges, companies and people who take responsibility are in demand. The UN Global Compact, the world’s largest and most important initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance, which we have supported as a member since 2016, provides the framework for this at BPW.

Our sustainability strategy is based on three main foundations: Employees & Society, Product Responsibility and Environment & Energy. All our actions, measures and activities follow these fields of action. In doing so, we not only have our generation or the generation after us in mind, but also the generation after next. We have been living this philosophy at BPW for almost 125 years. Acting responsibly is an integral part of our corporate culture. Our actions have therefore always been geared towards sustainability – not purely towards profitability.

This is also reflected in our innovative products and solutions, which conserve resources, reduce emissions and enable mobility and environmental protection at the same time. Through the generation and use of renewable energies as well as recycling initiatives, we cultivate a responsible approach to the environment, energy and our resources. All this is only possible with employees who see the big picture and do their best to do what is important and right. We employ around 1,500 of them at our headquarters in Wiehl and thousands of them in the BPW Group all over the world.

With our current sustainability report, we cordially invite you to learn about our ideas, initiatives and progress towards a more sustainable world.

Yours Achim Kotz and Markus Schell

01

Employees and Community

The people who work for BPW shape the company: They give a lot of know-how, knowledge and lifetime to the job. BPW is aware of the responsibility as an employer that this involves and invests in encouraging the health of all employees, providing support with social issues as well as with a good “fair balance” between family and job. The company is also committed to social issues, including better working conditions for truck drivers.

02

Product Responsibility

In more than 120 years of company history, BPW has always combined solid engineering with high-quality innovations. The products and solutions offer the transport and logistics industry greater efficiency, safety and reliability. In doing so, they support climate protection and offer numerous other benefits for the climate and society. BPW is always setting itself higher goals and working together with partners to become even better.

03

Environment and Energy

The importance of climate protection is increasing all the time. BPW recognised the need a long time ago and implemented many initiatives, such as the switch to 100 per cent green electricity. The commitment continues: in 2021, the company was able to move into a particularly environmentally friendly new office building in Wiehl, the company’s energy efficiency is being increased, water is being saved and the vehicle fleet is being electrified. Last but not least, BPW is committed to reforesting regional forests and creating space for bees.
